DIY Projects for Cats: Cat Water Cup Stand
Does your cat love drinking water from cups instead of bowls? You're not alone! Our two kitties love drinking from a cup! After multiple spills and broken glasses I decided to make a cheap and easy DIY cat water cup stand and I'm happy to report that it has been working out great! This has been one of the most useful DIY projects for cats I've tried and the best part is that you probably already have all the materials at home! It only takes about 15 minutes to make this cat water cup stand and my felines have been loving it for 2 years now!
OK, so on to the stuff you'll need for this stand! One or two plastic cups (Solo or something similar), a cardboard box, spray paint and letter stickers. The paint and the stickers are optional and for decoration only.
The box you choose should be big enough to fit the plastic cups, but still narrow enough so your cats can reach them. I got mine from Michael's and it measures 7x5x3.5.
All you need to do is cut a hole in the box equal to the mouth of the cup. I used a Sharpie to mark the height of the box on the plastic cup, measured the diameter of the cup at this mark, found a candle with similar diameter to trace it on the box and cut the hole with a utility knife.
I wanted to add a little bit of decoration to the cups, so I used letter stickers to write the names of our cats and spray painted the top.
And voila! All you have to do is fill the cups with water and let your cats indulge in their weird water-drinking habits. No more spills or broken glasses!
